Where Do I Put My Trust? ~ Self? or God?
Life can get busy and it is easy to become overwhelmed. Often when we are busy and we are trying to juggle all the various responsibilities that we have, our devotional aspect of our lives falls at the wayside. I have been writing a series of devotions that we can read to start out our days. They are a bit shorter than my usual writings and take about 5 minutes to read. My prayer is that you will be edified, encouraged and challenged by these. Blessings to you dear ones.
“Trust in Him at all times you people, pour out your hearts before Him. God is our refuge”.
There have been many times throughout my life where I felt that I was drowning in a pool of water with no escape. I wish that I could say that I always trusted in Him and sought His refuge. The truth is I often focused on myself, my circumstances, and what I thought I should do about it. Let me tell you, if you already haven’t experienced it for yourself – trusting in our own selves to save ourselves just does not work.
God wants us to put our trust in Him and not in our own abilities. Did you notice how it stated “at all times”? This doesn’t mean only when things are going well. It also doesn’t mean only when things are drowning us and we are feeling overwhelmed. There is nothing that You can say to God that will surprise Him or that He can not handle.
Are you hurt? Angry? Frustrated? Annoyed? Scared? Overwhelmed? Are you holding on to bitterness? Or resentment? Turn all of these over to the One that is waiting to help you. He is waiting to give you refuge from the storms that are trying to drown you. Take a risk if you have to and ….put your trust in Him.
Father God, Forgive me for all the times that I have put my trust in something and someone other than You. Today I am making the choice to surrender all of my cares and concerns and am putting my trust in You. Thank You that I am able to seek refuge in You. Help me to continue to seek You at all times. In Jesus’ Name ~~~ Amen
